CWA has officially begun the first project in our long list of upcoming Capital Improvement efforts. We’re starting with the replacement of outdated piping throughout the system, beginning with the steel water mains. This work spans six project areas, each focused on sections of aging steel pipe. As we replace these mains, we’ll also be rerouting certain water meters. Many meters are currently located in the backyards of members’ properties, and moving them will both respect homeowner privacy and make it easier for our field crew to locate and service them. Where feasible, meters and service lines will be relocated to more accessible areas as part of this project.
Surveys of the 6 areas that will be worked on first will start seeing a Survey Crew hired by Wilson Engineering starting in early July. Below is the tentative schedule:
- Control–July 8-9
- Utility Locates–July 13-16
- Project Area(PA) 1 & PA2–July 20-23– Taking photos, getting measurements, and basic surveying of property (Cascade View Dr from E Mountain View north for 565 Linear Feet (LF); S Edgewood Dr and Sunnycrest Ln; S Edgewood Dr 350 LF just north of N Marine View Pl and 350 LF south through yards and private driveways)
- PA3 & PA4–July 27-30– Taking photos, getting measurements, and basic surveying of property (S Prospect St from Beach Dr southeast for 575 LF, possible add 165 LF to close main loop to S Country Club; SE Camano Dr from Mel’s Pl to Dr. Johns’ pl for 1,365 LF)
- PA5 & PA6–Begin August 3– Taking photos, getting measurements, and basic surveying of property (Backyards between SE Camano Dr and S View St from S Country Club Dr northwest 1,900 LF; Backyards between S View St and Beach Dr between Holloway Ln and S Country Club Dr Northeast 1,200 LF)
